Create Power BI data source

 

Note: administrator should provide you access to the plugin first

 

  1. Go to Power BI Data Sources page: click Microsoft Power BI Connector for Jira from Jira main navigation menu and select the data source page you need

  1. Click Create a data source

  1. Enter the Name and Description (optional)

  2. Select Filter to filter by boards

  3. Specify JQL to filter the issues to be fetched by the data source

  4. Select the period for uploading issues in the Issues updated field

  5. Select the product you need on the top of the page:
    Jira Work Management
    Jira Software
    Jira Service Management
    Tempo Timesheets
    Tempo Planner
    Tempo Budgets
    Bitbucket
    GitHub
    Time to SLA

    Insight - Asset Management

    XRAY Test Management for Jira (TM4J)

    Zephyr for Jira - Test Management

    Zephyr Scale - Test Management for Jira

    BigPicture - Project Management & PP

    Advanced Roadmaps (formerly Portfolio)

    Profields - Jira Project Tracking

  6. Select the fields to be pulled by the data source

  7. Click Save

Actions

 

This menu provides access to additional features. Copy, edit or share your data sources in a few clicks

 

Copy link - copy link for export to Power BI

Edit - this option allows you to go to the data source edit page. Available to the administrator, data source author or user with the “Admin” privileges.

Export fields - click "Export fields" to see fields you can export and relationships between tables

 

Audit - with this functionality you can control the main changes that occur with the data sources

You can filter data by many metrics: Action (created, updated), Users, Issue Updated (you can select the time period for which you want to receive the report), Field Name (selection of fields for which changes were made).

Share - granting rights to the data source. This option is available to the administrator, data source author or user with the “Admin” privileges.

The author can share access to the data source with other users and groups who have access to the plugin.

All users who are in the jira-administrators group have access to all data sources and have the same access as the author of the data source .

Access is Denied

Users and groups have no access to the data source. The data source is not displayed for them

Delete - option to delete the data source. Available to the administrator, data source author or user with the “Admin” privileges.


Filter Data Sources

 

Filter Connectors by Users

  • All is the default value. Option shows all data sources the user can see

  • Own option shows personal user data sources

  • Using the Creator option, you can filter data sources by author
